NEWS AND TRIBUNE BRIEFS — For June 27

SOUTHERN INDIANA

Be alert for newspaper scammers

The News and Tribune has received multiple calls about a subject going door-to-door selling subscriptions to the News and Tribune.

The News and Tribune does not solicit door-to-door and anyone doing so offering subscriptions to the newspaper is participating in an attempted scam. Do not give them money or personal information. Instead, call the local police.

Anyone with questions can call the newspaper at 812-206-2107 or 812-206-2108.

Post offices closed July 4

Post offices throughout Southern Indiana will be closed July 4, and customers are encouraged to call ahead about modified hours July 5 because of the long holiday weekend.

Many Southern Indiana post offices will have modified hours on July 5, with many closing at noon. Regular mail delivery will be unaffected. All post offices will resume regular retail hours on Saturday, July 6.

There will be no mail delivery on July 4.

Customers can take advantage of Automated Postal Centers, or APCs, at select locations. APCs are available 24/7 and provide easy access to postal products and services.

Customers are asked to call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) or visit usps.gov for additional information.

NEW ALBANY

‘Parlor Stories’ on the way

At 7 p.m. Sunday, July 7, in the parlor of the St. Paul’s Parish House, one of the historic homes on Mansion Row in New Albany, St. Paul’s Arts Council presents “Parlor Stories: The American Spirit.”

Parlor Stories is a literary and performing arts series bringing together local actors, storytellers and authors reading great literature. The series is inspired by “Stories on Stage” in Denver, “Arts & Letters Live” in Dallas and “Selected Shorts” in New York City. There is a theme to each Parlor Story performance. Several stories are presented around each theme. The stories are sometimes classic, sometimes new; performed by great actors or story-tellers from the area who bring these short stories to life.
