NEW ALBANY

Cancer Center welcomes survivors

The Floyd Memorial Hospital Cancer Center of Indiana, 1850 State St., New Albany, is hosting a free Cancer Survivors Reunion from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 21. 

All Cancer Center of Indiana patients, survivors and loved ones are invited to attend. The carnival-themed event will have entertainment for attendees of all ages. There will be carnival-style food booths, an old-fashioned photo booth, balloon animals, magic shows, face painting, bingo, therapeutic massages and much more.

Wimmer’s studio, gallery open Tuesday

On Tuesday June 18, from 12-1 p.m., the Carnegie Center for Art and History, New Albany, is pleased to invite the public for an opportunity to see New Albany artist Michael Wimmer's studio and gallery, WE Studio, located at 324 East Main Street in New Albany, as part of the Carnegie Center’s Lunch & Learn series. 

 After the studio visit, the group will go to the New Albany Farmer's Market building at Market and Bank Streets to see Michael's new sculpture Sacks of Food that is a part of the 2013 New Albany Public Art Project: Bicentennial Series. This event leads up to the New Albany Public Art Walk that will be on Saturday, June 22, 6-9 p.m. 

 For this Lunch & Learn program, participants can meet at the Carnegie Center by 11:45 a.m. and walk to the studio together or meet at WE Studio at noon.  

This program is free, and registration is requested (please email dthomas@carnegiecenter.org  or call 812-944-7336 to register).  The monthly Lunch and Learn programs are sponsored by the Carnegie Center, Inc.

 

Blood drive to honor Denzinger

A blood drive in memory of Frank Denzinger will be from 2 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, at Northside Christian Church, 4407 Charlestown Road, New Albany.
