Alleged home burglar nabbed
Clarksville Police Department officers arrested a man believed to have broken into a home and stole several items about 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers reported that while sitting in the parking lot of Kroger on Blackiston Mill Road, dispatch advised a caller reported a possible break-in at a neighbor’s home in the 1500 block of Altawood Drive. The caller reported a man had left the residence in a white “dually” pickup truck.
One of the officers reported while pulling onto Blackiston Mill Road, they saw a white 1999 Dodge Ram dually traveling toward them on the roadway. The officers stopped the vehicle, which was driven by Steven Bowers, 40, of 1203 Spruce Drive in Jeffersonville. The officer reported finding a nail gun and an air compressor in the bed of the pickup truck and a Dell laptop in the vehicle’s cab.
When asked about the air compressor, Bowers told police that the truck belonged to his friend and that the tool had been in the truck the night before.
The officer noted in the report, “As I was working on this date, it had rained all night and the air compressor was completely dry.”
One of the two officers responded to the Altawood Drive home and found the glass to the back door had been knocked out.
The laptop was opened by police and displayed the name Nate, and the officer at the home located paperwork in the residence with the owner’s first name of Nathan.
