Local author to sign book
A Sylvia Wright-Noble book signing will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at First Trinity Baptist Church, 1506 Spring St., Jeffersonville. Wright-Noble, a resident of Clarksville, will be available to sign copies of her book, “Rhyme and Reason.”
Jones Memorial holding women’s health event
Jones Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church will host “Let’s Focus On Women’s Health” — a special workshop featuring two prominent local black physicians — Dr. Stephanie Mayfield, Kentucky’s Commissioner of Public Health and Dr. Wayne Gibson, nuclear cardiologist at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the church, 258 Ealy St., New Albany.

40 & 8 holding open house
The 40 & 8 Club will sponsor an open house and dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at the clubhouse, 221 Albany St., New Albany. The price for the ham or chicken or roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, slaw and dessert is $7.
Central Christian holding auditions
Central Christian Church Performing Arts Ministry is having auditions for “Carnival” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in the sanctuary for ages 16 and older. The church is located at 1315 E. Spring Ave. in New Albany.
The play will be directed by Tom Weatherston, retired theater director from New Albany High School. Performance dates are June 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30. Phone number of the church is 812-944-1736.
Men’s Lenten breakfasts set
The Floyd County Men’s Lenten breakfasts will be held again this year. Each Saturday during the Lenten season, a church will host the breakfast. Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. each Saturday. There will be a program presented after the breakfast. Offerings will be taken for the Floyd Central Christian Ministries and the Mount Saint Francis Ministries. Everyone is invited. The schedule is:
