The News and Tribune will not publish a print edition Monday, Feb. 18, as the U.S. Postal Service observes Presidents Day. The newspaper’s offices in New Albany and Jeffersonville will be open Monday.

Spanish game night coming to library

Come and play loteria [bingo] and other Spanish games at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, in the Strassweg auditorium. There will be prizes for the winner.

FCHS Choirs presenting concert

The Floyd Central Choirs under the direction of Angela Hampton will present their annual Popappella concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Floyd Central Auditorium.

The A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers, Men’s and Women’s choirs, along with local folk band The Hart Strings, will present a fun evening of familiar pop songs. Cost is $3 at the door.



CLARK COUNTY

Hospital hosting knee, hip pain seminar

Clark Memorial Hospital Center for Orthopedics and Spine will host a free education seminar on osteoarthritis and knee and hip pain. The seminar will be from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, at Clark Memorial Hospital Conference Center, 1220 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville.

Dr. Brent Walz, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, will lead the seminar focusing on the causes of knee and hip pain, how to get a good diagnosis and discuss conservative and surgical treatment options. Additional information will be available on the Fast Track Joint Replacement program at Clark Memorial Hospital. The program is designed to provide every joint replacement patient with lower risk, less discomfort and a faster recovery through education, advanced pain management, minimally invasive surgical techniques, comprehensive after care and the comfort of having a nurse navigator to guide patients through the entire process.

JEFFERSONVILLE

Hoops skills competition on the way

The Jeffersonville Optimist Club will hold its annual Tri-Star Basketball Skills contest at 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at Nachand Fieldhouse, 601 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville.

The contest will consists of three tests aimed at evaluating a contestant’s skills in passing, shooting and dribbling a basketball. Boys and girls compete separately and individually in six age groups (8-13.), against youth of their own age.

Entry forms will be available at the contest site on the day of competition. There is no cost to participate. First and second place finishers will advance to a free district finals competition.
