Head-on collision kills one in Clarksville

Two others injured in Veterans Parkway crash

CLARKSVILLE —

A man was killed Tuesday after two vehicles collided along Veterans Parkway in Clarksville near the Target store.

Clarksville police said family members were still being contacted, and the names of the three people involved in the collision were not being released to the public.

Clarksville Police Chief Mark Palmer said a man driving a Volkswagen Beetle crossed a median about 3:15 p.m. and struck an oncoming  Toyota passenger car occupied by a husband and wife.

The couple each suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the collision, police reported.

They were each taken for treatment to University of  Louisville Hospital.

The man was the only occupant in the Volkswagen, which was a rented vehicle.

Palmer said he was also taken to U of L Hospital, but first responders were not able to find his pulse at the accident scene.

Police received reports that the man was driving the Volkswagen erratically and was bouncing off roadside curbing before crossing over the median, Palmer said.
