Biden’s visit will be to downtown Jeffersonville on Wednesday

Democratic Party Vice Presidential Candidate Joe Biden will be at Warder Park in Jeffersonville Wednesday afternoon. Gates open at 2:30 p.m.

The Barack Obama-Joe Biden campaign announced the visit Friday, but did not specify the time and place.

Biden is stumping as he and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama are facing Republicans Arizona Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in November’s presidential contest. Indiana is expected to play a key role this election.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Those are available on a first-come, first-served basis at Obama’s Clark County headquarters, 335 Spring St., Suite A, Jeffersonville; and the Floyd County headquarters at 404 E. Main St., New Albany.

A specific time for the talk has not been announced, but Clark County Democratic Party Chairman Rod Pate said he believed the talk would start at about 4:30.

Wednesday’s visit will be Biden’s second trip to the Hoosier State since accepting the nomination as the party’s vice presidential candidate. Biden and Sen. Obama, D-Ill., made a stop in Hamilton, in Steuben County, as part of the “Road to Change” bus tour of battleground states following the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
