SOUTHERN INDIANA

Scholarship deadline extended

The deadline for the Virginia Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund has been extended to Thursday, Feb. 28. Each year, Regional Youth Services awards scholarships to foster children who were with the agency at any point since its founding in 1973. The applicants will be selected based on several criteria including an interview, letters of recommendation, financial need, academic record, and extracurricular and community activities. Past scholarship winners may reapply.

Scholarships are a minimum of $500 and up to a maximum of $5,000. The RYS Board of Directors determines the amount and number of scholarships awarded each year, which may be used only for tuition, fees, books, and room/board. The application can be found at the RYS website at regionalys.org  or email to dnichols@regionalys.org

CASI opens Section 8 list

Community Action of Southern Indiana will open the waiting list for Section 8 Housing Choice voucher (HCV) Program in Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties to the first 100 applicants to apply.

Applications will be taken from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Community Action of Southern Indiana, 1613 East Eighth St., Jeffersonville. Only 100 applications will be taken.

Persons needing reasonable accommodations for disability should call Community Action of Southern Indiana at 812-288-6451 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Feb. 26 or Feb. 27.

Applicants must be prepared to provide a photo ID, Social Security cards, and birth certificates for all household members. Preference is given to applicants who at the time of application provide proof of Indiana residency, are currently homeless, are working or enrolled in an educational or training program, are age 62 or older, are disabled or have a disabled family member.

Audition for wedding singer

Clarksville Little Theatre, 301 E. Montgomery Ave., Clarksville, will hold auditions for “Wedding Singer” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the theatre.

show dates are 8 p.m. May 10 , 11, 16, 17 and 18 and 2 p.m. May 12.
