Free ACT practice exams at library
The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will be hosting free practice ACT and SAT exams given by Sylvan Learning. There will be a practice ACT exam from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 and the practice ACT results will be given from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13. The practice SAT exam will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 and the practice SAT results will be given from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17.
The exams and result sessions will all be held in the library’s Strassweg Auditorium. Events are free but require registration, which can be done in person at the library or by calling 812-949-3523. Students will need to bring No. 2 pencils and a calculator that is not a cell phone.
Author signing books March 16
Destinations Book Store, 604 E. Spring St., New Albany, will sponsor a book signing with Corydon's Frank Bill, 2 to 4 p.m., March 16.
After a very successful short story collection, Crimes in Southern Indiana, Frank has become a rising star. Now he's debuting with his first novel for Farrar, Strauss & Giroux — “Donnybrook.”
Hazelwood students prepare for show
Hazelwood Middle School theater will perform Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland Jr.” at the school, at 7 p.m., March 14 and 15.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for school-age students, kindergarten through high school.
Homemakers’ meeting is March 7
The annual meeting of the Purdue Extension-Clark County Homemakers will be at 6:30 p.m., March 7, in the Food Center Building at the Clark County 4-H Center, 9608 Ind. 62, Charlestown.
A meal, catered by Scott and Brandi Conlen, will be served as part of the annual meeting. The cost of the meal will be $10 per person, payable at the door the night of the meeting. However, reservations are required on or before noon on March 1. Call the Purdue Extension-Clark County office at 812-256-4591 to make reservations.
