Clark County to hold budget meeting

The Clark County Council has scheduled a special meeting to discuss and act upon the 2013 county budget.

The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 8, in room 418 of the Clark County Government Building, 501E. Court Ave. in Jeffersonville.

CLARKSVILLE

Committee to hold special meeting

The Clarksville City-Town Study Committee will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 11, in the Town Council chambers of Clarksville Town Hall, 2000 Broadway, Clarksville. The meeting is open to the public. 

 

JEFFERSONVILLE

Spring Hill festival is Friday

The Spring Hill Elementary PSO Spring Festival will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the school, 201 E. 15th St., Jeffersonville. 

The evening will feature a silent auction, games, food and raffles. The raffle this year is for a Kindle Fire HD and an Ipod touch. Raffle tickets are $1 each and will be available the night of the festival.

 

Legion ribbon cutting is Saturday 

Jeffersonville American Legion Post 35, 801 Main St., Jeffersonville, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a reception, beginning at noon Saturday, March 9.

The community is invited to tour the new facility.

 

Leprechaun Run kicks-off series

The Leprechaun Run, a flat two-mile course in downtown Jeffersonville, will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Watt and Chestnut streets Tuesday, March 12. 

The prerace registration fee is $25 and entitles runners to one green beer or soft drink, door prizes, bags of gold and finish medals. Late check-in and registration will be held from 4:30 to 6:10 p.m. on race day at 300 Spring.

NEW ALBANY

Festival of Marriage starts Friday

A Festival of Marriage Simulcast will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 p.m., at Culbertson Baptist Church, 4007 Grant Line Road, New Albany.

AARP to meet Friday

AARP Floyd County Chapter will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, at St. John’s Church, the corner of 13th and Elm streets, New Albany.

There will be a guest speaker, drawing for a door prize and 50/50 raffle. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, call 812-944-9525.

 

Kiwanis hosting pancake breakfast

The New Albany Kiwanis will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. March 16 at Tumbleweed Restaurant, 2005 State St., New Albany.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 2 to 12 years of age. The event will feature John Oakes, world record holder in highest pancake toss. Proceeds go to The Salvation Army Children’s Christmas Party and Scholarships.   

 

40 & 8 holding St. Patty’s dinner

The 40 & 8 Club will sponsor an open house and salmon patty or corned beef and cabbage dinner from noon to 3 p.m. March 17 at the clubhouse, 221 Albany St., New Albany.

The price for the salmon patty or corned beef and cabbage dinner with fried potatoes, macaroni and cheese, slaw and dessert is $7.  

 

Circle of Friends sale is Saturday

The Circle of Friends Class at DePauw Methodist Church will be holding a basement sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 9, in the Fellowship Hall at the church, 925 Vincennes St., New Albany.

The class gives two $500 scholarships every year to graduating seniors at Floyd Central and New Albany high schools. Money from the sale will go toward the scholarships.

 

Food Addicts holding info session

Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous is offering a free information session at 2 p.m. March 17 at Northside Christian Church, 4407 Charlestown Road, New Albany.

Anyone who may be suffering from overeating, food obsession, under-eating or bulimia is welcome to attend, including those who are concerned about someone who may be suffering.
