> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Friends book sale at Harvest

From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, the Friends of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will have a special book sale in the Harvest Homecoming Tent for Kids’ Day.

The Friends have been saving up mint-condition children’s books all year for this occasion and will be selling them at the low price of $1 or less. A limited amount of adult books will also be available.

Children ages 12 and younger can participate in a drawing for gift certificates to Destinations Booksellers of New Albany.

Public Rosary service at St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eighth and Spring streets, will participate in the Public Square Rosary at noon Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Grotto entrance of the church.

St. Mary’s will be one of more than 7,000 rallies that will take place across the United States on that day.


Church hosting caregiver fair

Southern Indiana area caregivers are invited to a free event designed to provide encouragement and strength for the often difficult job of caring for older adults, 6 p.m., Oct. 29, at Graceland Baptist Church, 3600 Kamer-Miller Road, New Albany.

The featured speaker will be Lori Hogan, author of Strength for the Moment and co-founder of Home Instead Senior Care.


Church hosting chili supper

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 3465 Ind. 11, Lanesville, is having a chili supper at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.

The menu will include chili, bean soup and desserts. There is no charge for the meal but a free will offering will be accepted.

Men sought for play

Auditions for the play, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged” will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Charlestown Public Library, 51 Clark Road, Charlestown.

Rose Island Playhouse is looking for dynamic young men 18 to 35 for these challenging and fun roles. Cold readings from the script. Performances in late January. Call Rhoda Meier, director, at 812-256-5105 for further information.
