Lose weight, gain a new life

Clark Memorial Hospital Bariatric Weight Loss Program is hosting a free weight loss seminar on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the Kathryn Raines Education and Conference Center in the hospital, 1220 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville.

Dr. Daniel MacMillan and Dr. Patri Marconi, of Surgical Associates Southern Indiana, will present information on obesity and the laparoscopic weight loss procedure offered at Clark Memorial Hospital. Carolyn McKee, RN, bariatric coordinator will talk about how a comprehensive post-procedure follow-up program benefits weight loss patients and she will go over basic insurance information and guidelines.

Clark Memorial’s Bariatric Weight Loss Program offers a minimally- invasive surgical procedure called laparoscopic gastric banding. After surgery, each patient receives ongoing support that includes an exercise evaluation, gym membership, weekly consultation and weigh-in, monthly support group, and a free clothing exchange program.

Play performed at River Valley

River Valley Middle School students will present Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland JR.,” 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16, at River Valley Middle School, 2220 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville.

Tickets are $4 for students, $6 for adults ordered in advance and $8 for adults at the door. Tickets are available by calling 812-288-4848 or visiting the school.

Christmas crafts show planned

The Animal Protection Association (APA) is holding its third annual APA juried Arts and Craft show “Christmas in the City,” 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 16, at St. Augustine’s Parish Hall, 315 E. Chestnut St., Jeffersonvile. APA is currently seeking artist and craftsmen to be in the show. All items

must be made by the artist or crafter. This is a professional show.

Sweet booths are also desired, homemade candy or fudge, cookies and cakes.

This year we are also welcoming antique dealers.

Exhibit features artists

The St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Arts Council opens the second show in its Sacred Art Series, 2:30 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, in the Parish House of the church, 1015 E. Main St., New Albany.

The exhibit will be open at the Parish House of St. Paul’s Church every Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to o noon through Dec. 13. This exhibit, the second in a five show series, features the works of Joanne Weis, Vicki Vardaman, John McCarthy, and Linda Witte Henke.

Church hosts gospel concert

First Church of God, 2248 Charlestown Road, New Albany, will sponsor a gospel concert, “A Touch of Christmas Southern Style,” 7:30 p.m., Nov. 15, at the church.

Featured will be Down East Boys, Sneed Family, and Kevin Spencer.

Rauch, Inc., 845 Park Place, New Albany, is accepting nominations for the 2014 Imagine Awards.

Categories are:

• Individual with a disability for outstanding personal achievements

• Community leader/ citizen/ volunteer whose personal/professional efforts have positively impacted people with disabilities

• Business organization committed to employing or enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.

Nominees  must work of live in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott or Washington Counties in Indiana or Jefferson County, Kentucky. Recipient will be recognized at the Imagine Awards gala, March 1, 2014, at Horseshoe Southern Indiana.
