Nature hike set for Sunday
Charlestown State Park interpreters will lead a wildflower hike at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 28.
Meet at the trail five trailhead just outside the campground. Trail five is a moderate 1.8 mile walk. Hikers will go to an overlook on Fourteen Mile Creek and should see many wildflowers along the way such as hyacinth and rue anemone. The hikes are free with standard gate admission.
Library to give shopping tips
The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will host Let’s Go Shopping at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 in the Strassweg Auditorium.
Denise Romney, Certified Sears Health Coach, will present the seminar aimed at making the shopping experience easier and more productive. She will offer tips on how to navigate the grocery store, decipher food labels, find quick tips for saving money and prepare easy and nutritious meals. Door prizes will be awarded at the end of the program.

Red Cross to set up mock shelter
From 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, 222 E Spring St., New Albany, visitors can see how Red Cross volunteers would work to meet their needs in a disaster situation.
Red Cross Health Services volunteers will be on hand to answer questions while visitors explore the shelter setting. Members of the community are invited to attend at any time during the event. Light refreshments will be provided.

Church hosting spring fling today
Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Thomas V. Bryant Drive in Jeffersonville, will host a Spring Fling from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Saturday, April 27. There will be food and games for children and adults.
