Choices hosting fundraiser

Choices for Women Resource Center will be hosting its 10th Annual Spring Fundraising Gala from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 30.

The event will take place at Plantation Hall at the Huber Winery. Tickets are $40 per person. The night includes dinner, music by Jamey Aebersold, and keynote address by Christian comedian Mike G. Williams.

JEFFERSONVILLE

JHS class to reunite

Jeffersonville High School class of 1964 will host a 50-year reunion beginning at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m., Aug. 16, at the Clarion Hotel Louisville North, 505 Marriott Drive, Clarksville.

Since arrangements with the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center need to be finalized by mid June, registration deadline is June 6.

Annual chocolate stroll hits city

The annual chocolate Stroll will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. May 9 in downtown Jeffersonville.

The event offers ticket-buyers the opportunity to taste many different chocolates from brownies and candies to cookies and cake. Chocolate tasting stations will be located within the locally owned shops and restaurants and five live music acts will be playing along the historic district’s sidewalks. Only 500 tickets will be sold.

On the day of the event, ticket-buyers must first visit the registration area in the Glossbrenner Garden, at the corner of Spring and Chestnut Street, where they will pick up their map to visit participating shops for a tasting of chocolates. The event takes place within a four block area of downtown.

Advance tickets are $8 [$3 for children 12 and under], $10 the day of the event [$5 for children 12 and under]. Tickets are available online at JeffMainStreet.org and at: Choices Boutique, 437 Spring St.; Schimpff’s Confectionery, 347 Spring St.; and The Springs Salon & Spa, 234 Spring St.

Online ticket-purchasers should present their PayPal receipt at the registration table.

Annual steamboat party taking reservations

The Mudd Sisters’ 10th annual benefit for Alzheimer’s disease — Great Steamboat Race Party — will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Kingfish Restaurant in Jeffersonville.

Patrons must be 21 or older to attend. The cost is $35 per person prepaid, $40 at the door or $30 prepaid for groups of five or more.

Shredding event coming to church

The women of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, are sponsoring their annual shredding event from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at 1506 Spring St.

NEW ALBANY

Parks Department hosting yard sale

The New Albany Parks Department will host a “Not Your Average Yard Sale” from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

Twenty–five vendor booths will sell crafts, furniture, toys, art, jewelry and other miscellaneous treasures during this annual community flea market.

The yard sale will be located at the Griffin Center, 1140 Griffin St., New Albany. Admission is free.

Tribute to Stephen Foster set

The Jennie Gebhart Hedden Music Study Club will present “A Tribute to Stephen Foster” at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, at St. Marks United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 222 E. Spring St., New Albany. Admission is free.

UTICA

Cemetery group holding fish fry

The Utica Hillcrest Cemetery Association will sponsor a fish fry beginning at 5 p.m. today, April 25, at the Utica Community Center, Fourth St., Utica.

The menu will include fish, baked potato, hush puppies, slaw, dessert and drink, $8. A kids menu will feature hot dog, chips, dessert and drink, $5. Carry-outs are available.

Proceeds will be used for the upkeep of the cemetery.

GREENVILLE

Dessert card party scheduled

A dessert card party will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at St. Michael Catholic Church at Bradford, 11400 Farmers Lane NE, Greenville.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes dessert and drink.
