Young hosting mobile hours

The office of Rep. Todd Young, R-Ind., will be holding mobile office hours in Scott County from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Scottsburg Train Depot, 90 N. Main St., Scottsburg.

Constituents who need help in dealing with a federal agency are encouraged to visit during this time as caseworkers will be present to assist them. Those with questions or who would like to reserve time for a meeting should contact the Jeffersonville Constituent Service Center at 812-288-3999.



Brandon’s House hosting events

The annual walkathon for Brandon’s House Counseling Center Inc., 1618 Beeler St., New Albany, will begin at 3 p.m. April 14 at DePauw Methodist Church, across from New Albany High School.

The event is the biggest fundraiser for Brandon’s House, a nonprofit agency that gives away master’s level counseling to teenagers and families in the community. Brandon’s House depends almost entirely upon community support.

Brandon’s House will be holding an open house for the walkathon from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 18 through Thursday, March 21, from 1 to 6 p.m. Stop by Brandon’s House to register. Walkers who register by April 5 will be entered in a drawing for a free pair of custom-fit walking and running shoes from Pacers and Racers. Walkathon T-shirts will be just $7 during the week of the open house and $10 after March 21.

NEW ALBANY

40 & 8 Club sponsoring meal

The 40 & 8 Club will sponsor an open house and salmon patty or corn beef and cabbage dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the clubhouse, 221 Albany St., New Albany.

The price for the Samoan patty or corn beef and cabbage dinner with fried potatoes, macaroni and cheese, slaw and dessert, is $7.



FMH starts new weight loss program

Floyd Memorial Weight Management Center is launching a new surgical weight loss program that now includes gastric sleeve surgery which has gained increasing popularity across the country, along with gastric banding surgery.

Bariatric and board certified general surgeons Drs. Lanny Gore and Julie Hutchinson will hold a free seminar to introduce the procedures to Southern Indiana patients from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the Floyd Memorial Cancer Center of Indiana, 2210 Green Valley Road, New Albany.

Discover who qualifies as a candidate, insurance requirements for weight loss surgery and the extra assistance provided by the Floyd Memorial Weight Management Center including personal involvement in the weight loss journey, free gym membership and lifetime support. JEFFERSONVILLE

Benefit to honor Ethan Bennett

A benefit for the Ethan Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund, being administered by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, will begin at 7 p.m. March 30 at Lakeside Reflections, 617 Brown Forman Road, Jeffersonville. The night will have live music, a silent auction, face painting, massages, shoe shines and more. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Proceeds will go to the Ethan Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund to help fellow students pursue higher education.



Hospital hosting pain seminar

Clark Memorial Hospital Center for Orthopedics and Spine will host a free educational seminar on osteoarthritis and knee and hip pain. The seminar will be from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, March 21, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

Dr. John Lindner, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, will lead the seminar and answer questions about knee and hip pain, as well as treatment options. Additional information will be available on the Fast Track Joint Replacement program at Clark Memorial Hospital.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions, meet the orthopedic staff and enjoy preferred scheduling for an individual consultation, if they would like.

Chamber hosting membership meeting

The Charlestown Chamber of Commerce quarterly membership meeting will be from noon to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center, 999 Water St., Charlestown.
