JEFFERSONVILLE

Arts committee to meet

The Jeffersonville Public Arts Committee will hold a meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.. 28.

The meeting will be held at Jeffersonville City Hall, 400 Quartermaster Court, in the second-floor Planning and Zoning conference room.

JHS holding cheer clinic

Jeffersonville High School’s annual cheerleading clinic for all students in kindergarten through fifth grade will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Jeffersonville High School, 2215 Allison Lane, Jeffersonville.

The students will then perform at halftime of the varsity football game Friday, Aug. 30. The game begins at 7 p.m.. Clinic participants will cheer the first half of the football game.

The cost is $25 per students. Make checks payable to Jeff Cheer Boosters.

Organ concert coming to St. John

A Progressive Organ Concert begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at St. John United Presbyterian Church, located at 13th and Elm streets, New Albany. Call 812-945-3531 for more information.

GEORGETOWN

Optimist Club hosting yard sale

The Georgetown Optimist Club, next to the drive-in, is hosting a community

yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 31. Rental is $10 per table.

Concessions available will be: biscuits and gravy, hot dogs, and sloppy joes. New this month is Paparazzi jewelry, and of course couponers will be there with

excellent bargains.

FLOYD COUNTY

Historical Society to meet

The Floyd County Historical Society will have its August meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at The Villages at Historic Silvercrest, One Silvercrest Drive — formerly 1809 Old Vincennes Road — New Albany.

Matt Chalfant and Ross Oberhausen will present the program titled: “The Villages at Historic Silvercrest: The history and reuse of the historic structure.”

The meeting is free and open to the public.
