Downtown bridge work to affect travel

LOUISVILLE — The following closures and lane restrictions are expected the rest of this week and next week in connection with construction on the downtown portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

• Work underway in Louisville that will impact traffic includes lane restrictions on Witherspoon Street, from Preston Street to Adams Street, through Friday, Nov. 15 for utility work and pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

• The left lane of Main Street, from Hancock Street to Jackson Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Nov. 15 for work on retaining walls.

• The right lane and right parking lane on eastbound Market Street, from Jackson Street to Hancock Street, are scheduled to be closed through Friday, Nov. 15 for abutment work.

• The left lane of Jackson Street, from Jefferson Street to Market Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Nov. 22 for abutment work.

• The right lane of Liberty Street, from Floyd Street to Preston Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Nov. 22 for excavation work.

• Work scheduled to begin next week on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River includes one lane of Interstate 64 east, from Ninth Street to I-65, that is scheduled to be closed overnight Monday, Nov. 11 for sign maintenance. Work will begin around 9 p.m., with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

• One lane of I-64 east, from I-65 to just east of the I-71 north exit ramp, is scheduled to be closed overnight Tuesday, Nov. 12 through Thursday, Nov. 14 for temporary paving and striping and work on a temporary wall. Work will begin around 9 p.m. each night, with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

• Rolling closures are expected overnight Wednesday, Nov. 13 on I-65 north and I-65 south from the Kennedy Bridge to Muhammad Ali Boulevard for pothole patching. Work will begin around 9 p.m., with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

• The right lane of westbound Witherspoon Street, from Adams Street to River Road, is scheduled to be closed Tuesday, Nov. 12 through Friday, Nov. 22. Flaggers will be used at times to control traffic in one lane.
