Hear gospel sounds Sunday

The city of Jeffersonville will present Night of Psalms Gospel Festival from 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, at RiverStage at the corner of Spring Street and Riverside Drive. The event is free.



NEW ALBANY

NAACP banquet set

The New Albany branch of the NAACP will sponsor the 2013 Freedom Fund Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at The Grand Theater, New Albany.

Guest speaker will be Dawne Gee and music will be provided by Jamey Aebersold Jazz Quarter.

Tickets are $40 each, available at the door.



Learn Mango at the library

Mango is the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library’s newest online language learning database. Come to the kick-off to learn more about mango from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the library’s auditorium

With mango, users can learn more than 40 foreign languages, and there are three ESL courses taught in various native languages. There will be music, prizes and food at the free event.

Make It-Take It event coming up

The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library invites adult crafters to Make It-Take It DYI Whiteboard from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Applegate Room.

It’s perfect for a to-do list for your desk. Frame notebook paper, hot glue a bow, and wrap with a dry erase marker.

FLOYDS KNOBS

SMK hosting annual card party

St. Mary of the Knobs Annual Card Party will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Geis Activity Center, 3033 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs.

A $5 admission entitles guests to register for a chance to win hundreds of door prizes, a homemade dessert and drink. Doors open at 6 p.m. to claim your seat — no reservations taken. Special quilt raffle, 50/50 and ever popular pull tabs round out the evening. Call 812-923-3011 for information

Historical society to meet

The September meeting of the Clark’s Grant Historical Society will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at  Charlestown Library, 51 Clark Road, Charlestown.

This will be a show and tell. This program has been very popular in the past, and it has been quite some time since it has been done. Members and guests are asked to bring in artifacts, historical items or other unusual items of interest.

Golf outing benefits schools

Communities In Schools Clark County will sponsor a golf outing, Monday, Sept. 16, at Covered Bridge in Sellersburg. Lunch and registration starts at 11 a.m. with a scramble shotgun start at 1 p.m. Dinner and awards to follow golf at approximately 6 p.m.

Communities In Schools Clark County helps elementary schools by providing reading tutors, vision screenings for first graders, after school programs, and clothing and coats for children in need. The organization also will hold a dinner and dance Gala Celebration at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at Kye’s II in Jeffersonville, and features live music by the Horizontal Boogie Band, dinner, and a silent auction. Celebration tickets are $40.



SOUTHERN INDIANA

Providence class of 1963 to meet

The Providence High School class of 1963 will hold its 50-year reunion from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Covered Bridge Golf Course Clubhouse, Sellersburg.
