NEWS AND TRIBUNE BRIEFS — For July 9

JEFFERSONVILLE

Heart benefit planned for Twilight

A Chuck Robertson Heart Benefit is planned for Aug. 24 at Twilight Golf Course, 5316 E. Ind. 62, Jeffersonville. The entry fee is $150 for a foursome, which includes green fees and lunch. Payment is due by Aug. 20.

The tournament will be played in a scramble with four-person teams. If you do not enter a team list, you will be placed with others. This is open to the public. Children ages 9 to 12 must play with an experienced adult.

Robertson is  a 37-year-old Jeffersonville resident who has been on a mechanical heart pump for the last 18 months while waiting for a transplant. With this device there are still worries, many trips to the doctor and frequent stays in the hospital.

In addition to the golf outing, a blood drive will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the golf course. The goal is 40 units of blood donated.
