Winter weather advisory issued for Southern Indiana

Forecast calls for up to 2 inches of snow

LOUISVILLE — A winter weather advisory has been issued for Clark and Floyd counties and surrounding areas by the National Weather Service.

Up to 2 inches of snow are in the forecast for Southern Indiana, as “more widespread and intense snow showers will develop late this afternoon,” the NWS advisory reads.

The advisory adds that all interstate corridors will be affected in spots and motorists traveling should be prepared for rapidly deteriorating conditions between 6 p.m. and midnight. The advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. Friday.

The NWS says that visibility will be reduced to less than a half mile at times during the heavy snow.

Temperatures are expected to rise above the freezing mark for a few hours this afternoon, but tonight will be very cold, with a low of 13 expected. Friday’s high is predicted at 23, with a low of 20 Friday night.

There is a chance of light snow Friday night and into Saturday.
