A strong second half led the Evansville Harrison girls’ basketball team to a 46-42 victory over visiting New Albany 46-42 in a tightly contested game on Friday.
“We played a good game,” said Bulldog coach Tammy Geron. “We competed for four quarters and that was nice to see.”
New Albany (3-8) started the game with a 14-8 first quarter. In the second quarter, Evansville Harrison (7-3) was able to cut the six-point lead to five right before the half as it trailed 22-17.
In the third quarter, Harrison got things going offensively scoring 14 points and taking the lead heading into the fourth, 31-28.
The Bulldogs bounced back from their six-point third quarter and scored 14 in the fourth. Harrison was able to score 15 points in the quarter to keep control and escape with a four-point victory.
“In the fourth quarter, we gave up too many layups.” Geron said.
New Albany’s Aaliyah Bell finished with team highs in points with 12 and rebounds with eight. Brittany Knight scored 10 points in the Bulldog loss.
New Albany is back in action Thursday when it hosts Madison (7-1, 3-1 Hoosier Hills Conference).
