> SOUTHERN INDIANA —
Silver Creek took care of business Friday with a 79-63 road win over Mid-Southern Conference foe Eastern.
Silver Crek was led by Nick Tinsley, who had a big game with 19 points and eight assists, along with Gabe Bauer’s 23 points as the Dragons improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the MSC.
“Tinsley had a really nice game,” Silver Creek coach Brandon Hoffman said of his junior guard.
“That was our goal, to take care of business tonight and keep our conference record unblemished and move on to a big game tonight,” Hoffman said of tonight’s battle with rival Borden.
The Dragons took a early 10-point first quarter lead and never relinquished it. Despite a solid offensive effort from Eastern, Silver Creek never allowed the Musketeers back in the game.
The game was a fast and very physical game. Eastern recorded 30 fouls during the four quarters and Silver Creek was called for 22. Silver Creek shot 51 free throws, making 32 of them, while Eastern was 13 of 25 from the line.
Along with the games from Tinsley and Bauer, the Dragons’ Christian Reed scored 12 and Sam Garr grabbed a team high-nine rebounds to go along with two points. Jake Steele was big on the defensive end with five blocks to go with his five points.
Eastern’s Alex Doebler scored 18 and hit four 3s. Judd Olesh scored 12 and Jack Hayes had 10 for the Musketeers.
Silver Creek hosts defending Class A state champion Borden (8-1) tonight. The Dragons handed the Braves their first loss of the season, 60-51 last season.
Eastern (2-7, 0-4 MSC) has a week off and then travels to North Harrison (2-5, 0-3) for a MSC contest next Friday.
