SPORTS IN BRIEF: Tournament tickets, radio coverage, alumni game at Providence

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

NA sectional ticket draw Wednesday

The New Albany High School athletic department will have its ticket draw for next week’s Class 4A Seymour Boys’ Sectional at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $6. The Bulldogs will begin sectional play at 6 p.m. next Tuesday, as they face Jeffersonville in the first round.

Jeff girls’ semistate game to be on WNDA-AM

WNDA-AM/1570 in Clarksville will broadcast Saturday’s Class 4A Southport Girls’ Semistate between Jeffersonville and Carmel.

The radio station will join the game in progress after its broadcast of the University of Louisville baseball game, which will start at 1 p.m. Tip-off time for the semistate will be at approximately 3 p.m.

Jeff selling semistate, sectional tickets

The Jeffersonville High School athletic department will be selling tickets to both the Class 4A Southport Girls’ Semistate and the 4A Seymour Boys’ Sectional this week.

The following is ticket information for both tournaments:

• GIRLS’ SEMISTATE: Semistate tickets will go on sale in the athletic office from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets also can be purchased in the athletic office from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday and 9-11 a.m. Friday.

Tickets are $7 each. No reserved seating will be available.

• BOYS’ SECTIONAL: Sectional tickets can be purchased in the athletic office during the following dates and times: Wednesday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Monday, 9 a.m.-noon.

Tickets are $6 apiece. Reserved seating will be available.

Providence to host inaugural alumni game

Providence High School will host its first annual PHS alumni basketball game, sponsored by the school’s House of Truth and girls’ basketball team, at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Larkin Center. Providence is welcoming alumni sign-ups to play or referee.

Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for students, with children 12 and under getting in free. All Providence alumni, families and students are encouraged to attend this showdown between former Pioneer stars.
