NEW ALBANY —
IU Southeast volleyball coach Eric Brian announced two additions to the Grenadier volleyball team on Monday.
Seymour High School product Taylor Sutton and Tell City graduate Logan Flannagan are the newcomers for the upcoming season.
Sutton was the libero for the Owls for the past two seasons. She helped lead them to two Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament titles, two Class 4A regional victories and one Class 4A Final Four appearance. She holds the school serve-receive record of 2.223. She plans on majoring in nursing at IUS.
“Taylor is a talented defensive player with a great attitude,” Brian said. “She has all the skills necessary to make major contributions to our defense. [Grenadier senior] Stephanie Bradshaw is an exemplary libero to teach and lead Taylor, and our other defensive players to help them reach the next level.”
Flannagan was the outside hitter for four seasons at Tell City. She was a letterwinner in five different sports in high school. She holds several school records and was named to the all-conference team during her high school career. During her junior year, her team was ranked fourth in Class 2A. She plans to major in nursing.
“Logan is left-handed, puts up a great block and has a whip for an arm,” Brian said. “These are great things to have on the right side. She’s a great addition to our roster. She will also be able to learn a lot from [IUS sophomore-to-be] Hannah Barker, who did a great job on the right side last year.”
The Grenadiers will open their season on Tuesday, Aug. 26 when they host Midway College.
