The Rock Creek Academy boys’ basketball team kept on rolling on Tuesday night at Charlestown Sports Arena.
The Lions extended their longest winning streak of the season to four games by defeating the Pirates, 50-42.
Rock Creek junior Will Brown had a solid night shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. The 6-foot-1 guard knocked down four 3-pointers in tallying a game-high 27 points.
Junior center Gedeon Nzombi was the only other Lion to score in double figures with 11 points.
The game was nip-and-tuck during the first half. Charlestown (2-7) led 13-12 after the first quarter. With both teams scoring eight points apiece in the second, the Pirates held a 21-20 halftime lead.
Rock Creek (7-5) got the lead in the third quarter, outscoring Charlestown 12-8 in the stanza to go up 32-29. Then in the fourth, the Lions outscored the Pirates 18-13 to win by eight points.
Sophomore Tanner Wesp paced Charlestown with a double-double, scoring a team-high 15 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Pirates’ senior Darren Taylor chipped in 10 points. Also for Charlestown, junior Hunter Crace had eight points and eight rebounds.
Rock Creek will host Crothersville (6-4) on Friday. The Pirates will entertain Christian Academy (7-2) on Saturday.
