New Albany camps
The New Albany High School volleyball program will host its elementary and middle school volleyball camps July 8-10 at The Doghouse. The elementary camp is open to boys and girls currently in grades K-4, while the middle school camp is accepting boys and girls currently in grades 5-8.
The elementary camp will meet each day from 9-11 a.m. The middle school camp will meet each day from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
New Albany High School coaching staff and players will teach campers the following skills: forearm pass, overhand pass, set, attack the ball, serve (underhand, topspin, floater and jump), defensive skills. There also will be a tournament at the end of the camp.
Each camper will receive a T-shirt and will get their picture in the News and Tribune with the group.

New Albany HoopFest
New Albany High School will host the New Albany Bulldogs Summer Boys’ Varsity HoopFest on Thursday, June 20.
The event is open to only high school boys’ varsity basketball teams. Each team will have a three-game guarantee. There also will be air-conditioned gymnasiums, regulation wooden floors and a hospitality room for coaches.
Entry fee is $125 per team. Admission fee for spectators is $4.

Graceland league registration, evaluation
The Graceland Youth Soccer League will have its registration and evaluation on the following dates and times at the Graceland Baptist Church soccer fields, 3600 Kamer Miller Road, New Albany: Saturday, July 27, 10 a.m.; Sunday, July 28, 2 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m.; Sunday, Aug. 4, 2 p.m.
The league is open to boys and girls ages 4-12. Players will go through a brief skills evaluation on each of the sign-up dates, while parents will pay and register them for the season.
Costs are $55 for the first child, $50 for the second child and $45 for each additional child.

FC graduate named to All-KIAC Scholar-Athlete team
IU East guard Cody Banet has been named to the All-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2012-13 school year.
The Floyd Central graduate was one of 29 Red Wolves’ athletes to be selected to the squad. To be eligible for the team, Banet had to have a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average after at least two semesters of attendance at a KIAC institution.
Banet was a junior last season at IU East, averaging 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
