JEFF FALLS TO ST. X

After a tough 7-6, 11-inning at New Albany on Wednesday, Jeffersonville crossed the bridge and dropped a second straight contest, 4-2 at St. Xavier.

Scoreless after three innings, the Red Devils took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth. However, St. X answered with two runs in each the fourth and the fifth.

“Another tough loss, but we’ll keep grinding,” Jeffersonville coach Derek Ellis said.

Josh Burke, Ian Ellis and Drew Ellis each went 2-for-3 for Jeff, which had eight hits in the loss. Burke had an RBI, while Drew Campbell scored a run and Chandler Dale added an RBI for the Devils. Ian Ellis also had a double and a stolen base in the loss.

Dale took the loss and is now 1-3 on the season.

The Devils are back in action Saturday when they face Hoosier Hills rival Bedford North Lawrence.
