COLLEGE SOFTBALL: No. 25 Grenadiers fall to No. 14 Olivet Nazarene in NAIA Opening Round

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The IU Southeast softball team fell to No. 14-ranked Olivet Nazarene 7-2 in NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round.

The No. 25-ranked Grenadiers (36-8, 23-3 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) are the No. 3 seed in the Lee bracket and will now face No. 4 Bethel (Ind.) today at 4:30 p.m. in an elimination game. Bethel lost to Lee 3-1 on Monday.

The ONU Tigers (47-7) are the No. 2 seed in the Lee bracket and will face the winner of the the hosts.

The opening round is a double-elimination tournament with one winner advancing from each bracket to form the 10-team final field. IU Southeast is playing in the opening round tournament site that is hosted by Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.

Each of the opening round winners will advance to the NAIA Softball National Championship final site in Columbus, Ga., May 24-30. The format in Columbus is a double-elimination, 10-team event on a single championship field.
