BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Grenadiers Knock Off No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan, 93-81

NEW ALBANY — NEW ALBANY — Cameron Mitchel had a game-high 26 points and Jake Simpson added 25 as the sizzling IU Southeast offense roared past No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan 93-81 on Wednesday night.

Indiana Wesleyan (5-1) scored the game’s first basket and never led by more than two in the game.

Mitchell was on fire early, scoring 16 points in the opening half on six of twelve shooting.

The game was close throughout much of the first half before the Grenadiers opened a 12-point lead late in the first half and led by 10 at the break.

The second half opened with the Wildcats scoring the first six points to cut the lead to four. They would not get closer.

After an IU Southeast timeout, the Grenadier defense began to swarm and forced turnovers to regain a double-digit lead.

With the lead cut down to seven once more, Cameron Mitchell and Simpson scored the next points to make it a 13-point lead.

Kegan Clark was a star in the second half with three big dunks. He had 11 of his 14 points in the final frame.

The Grenadiers (4-1) scored 17 points off of 15 Wildcat turnovers, which decided the margin.
