NEW ALBANY — The IU Southeast men’s basketball team will face Tabor College (Kan.) in the first round of the NAIA Div. II men’s basketball National Championship on Thursday, March 13 at 6:45 p.m.

The third-seeded Grenadiers will make their 10th appearance in the national tournament and seventh straight under head coach Wiley Brown.

IU Southeast lost to Cincinnati Christian 83-71 in the KIAC Championship, snapping their 20-game winning streak. IU Southeast is 25-4 and is ranked No. 3.

Tabor is 20-12 and went 10-8 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Bluejays defeated Sterling 97-90 to win the KCAC tournament championship. Dewayne Biggs leads the team in scoring at 15.8 points per game but three other Bluejays are averaging double-figures in scoring.

For the 15th-straight year, the NAIA DII tournament will be held at Point Lookout, Mo., on the campus of College of the Ozarks from March 12-18. Fifteen programs, including IU Southeast, are back after competing in the 2013 championship.

Last season, IU Southeast advanced to its first Final Four in school history before losing to last year’s national champion and 2014 No. 1 seed Cardinal Stritch in the tournament semifinals.
