NO. 22 NOTRE DAME BEATS PURDUE, 81-68
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat the Purdue Boilermakers 81-68 in the second of the Crossroads Classic games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Notre Dame had four players score in double figures and were led by Jack Cooley's 18 points and nine rebounds. Eric Atkins added 17, Pat Connaughton contributed 16 and Garrick Sherman scored 11.
Purdue's leading scorer was Raphael Davis off the bench with 21 points. He scored played 18 minutes, but scored all of his points in 12 minutes in the second half on 8-of-9 shooting.
New Albany graduate Donnie Hale did not play for the Boilermakers.
The Fighting Irish led by 23 points with 10:36 remaining in the game. The Boilermakers got within nine at 58-49 with 5:41 left but were never able to get any closer.
Notre Dame improved to 9-1 and Purdue fell to 4-6 on the season.
