IU SOUTHEAST TENNIS: Grenadier women to face Oklahoma Baptist at NAIA

Men draw Northwestern Ohio

NEW ALBANY —  The IU Southeast women’s tennis team will face Oklahoma Baptist in the first round of the 2014 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship tournament on May 13 in Mobile, Ala.

IU Southeast is 16-4 this season and won its 15th straight KIAC tournament championship to earn an automatic bid to the tournament. Oklahoma Baptist is 13-10 and received an at-large bid. The Lady Bison are ranked No. 10 in the NAIA.

The national championship kicks off at 10 a.m. Tuesday with eight concurrent matches occurring Tuesday and Wednesday. Quarterfinal action begins at 10 a.m. May 15, while the semifinals are slated for May 16, again at 10 a.m.

The championship final will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 and will be broadcast live online.

IUS MEN DRAW NORTHWESTERN OHIO

The IU Southeast men’s tennis team will face Northwestern Ohio in the first round of the 2014 NAIA Men’s Tennis National Championiship on Tuesday in Mobile, Ala.

This will be the Grenadiers’ first appearance in the NAIA Tournament. IU Southeast is currently 12-6 and won the KIAC tournament for the first time since 2009 to earn an automatic bid to the national tournament.

Northwestern Ohio is ranked No. 12 in the country with a record of 21-3. The Racers are making their second straight appearance in the tournament.

The national championship kicks off at 2 p.m. Tuesday with eight concurrent matches occurring on Tuesday and Wednesday.
