• William Barber (Spalding men’s basketball, New Albany graduate, Sr.) — weekly stats: 20 points per game, 14-24 field goals, 5-10 3-pointers, 7-12 free throws, four rebounds, four steals; top performance: game-high 20 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range and 6-of-8 from the stripe, three rebounds and two steals in the Golden Eagles’ 69-66 home victory over Westminster (Mo.) on Saturday; notes: Barber was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday; In Saturday’s win over Westminster, Barber won the game for Spalding by nailing a 60-foot 3-pointer with .9 of a second left in regulation; Barber’s shot clinched the Golden Eagles’ second straight SLIAC regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the SLIAC Tournament; Spalding will host this week’s conference tournament; Barber returned to the court in last Thursday’s 66-60 triumph at Greenville (Ill.) after missing five consecutive games because of a fractured left hand; team records: 18-7 overall, 16-2 SLIAC.
• Brandon Beam (IU South Bend men’s basketball, So.) — weekly stats: two points per game, 1-9 field goals, 0-5 3-pointers, 2-2 free throws, seven rebounds, two assists; notes: five rebounds and two points in the Titans’ 71-69 home victory over Purdue North Central last Thursday; team records: 12-16 overall, 8-10 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
• Chris Beam (IU South Bend men’s basketball, Sr.) — weekly stats: 13.5 points per game, 12-20 field goals, 1-3 3-pointers, 2-4 free throws, five rebounds, four assists, two steals; top performance: game-high 18 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the floor and 0-of-1 from 3-point range, four rebounds, team-high three assists and two steals in the Titans’ 71-69 home win over Purdue North Central last Thursday; notes: Beam reached 1,000 points in his college career in the Senior Night victory over Purdue North Central; team records: 12-16 overall, 8-10 CCAC.
