NEW ALBANY —
Forty-three IU Southeast student-athletes have been named Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholar-Athletes, the IU Southeast athletic department announced on Thursday.
In order to be named a KIAC Scholar-Athlete, a student must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25. Freshmen are eligible for the award.
“IU Southeast will be well-represented among KIAC schools,” IU Southeast athletic director Joe Glover said. “Our student-athletes have had success this year both on the field and in the classroom. I am glad they have been able to achieve their goals both athletically and academically.”

DETZER, SANDERS NAMED NAIA SCHOLAR-ATHLETES
IU Southeast softball players Jade Detzer and Summer Sanders have been named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, the NAIA announced Wednesday.
The two outfielders were among 297 softball student-athletes who earned recognition during the 2014 season. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Detzer, a senior from Santa Claus, Ind., earned the award for the second straight season.
Sanders, a junior from North Vernon, earned the award in her first year of eligibility.
Both were named to the IU Southeast Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during each semester this academic year.
