COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Batliner named KIAC Pitcher and Player of the Week

NEW ALBANY — Indiana University Southeast sophomore Jordan Batliner was named the KIAC softball Player and Pitcher of the Week by KIAC officials on Monday. The Player of the Week honor is her third of the season.

Batliner — a Floyd Central High School graduate — finished the week with a .471 batting average (8-for-17) as the Grenadiers ended the week with a 6-0 record.

The IU Southeast sophomore had three multi-hit games, two doubles, two home runs, 10 runs batted in and eight runs scored. She is hitting .455 on the season (40-for-88), which ranks 32nd nationally.

She also earned a pair of wins in two outings on the mound last week. She pitched seven innings and struck out nine in a 4-0 win against Asbury. She also pitched seven innings and struck out six in a 5-1 win against Carlow University. She is 4-1 on the season with a 1.86 earned run average over 37.2 innings.

 IU Southeast is 27-5 overall and 17-1 in conference play. The Grenadiers will return to action on Wednesday when they host Georgetown College.
