Mattingly's hot week earns Athlete of the Week honors



• Maddy Bellew (Ottawa women’s tennis, Fr.) — weekly stats: 2-2 singles record, 2-2 doubles record; top performance: No. 1 singles win (6-4, 6-1) and No. 1 doubles victory (8-5) in the Braves’ 7-2 loss on Monday, April 1 at Missouri Valley College; team records: 4-4 overall, 0-1 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

• Stephanie Cave (Bellarmine women’s track, Sr.) — notes: 10th in the 1,500 (4:55.07) and 30th in the 800 (2:32.61) at the Bellarmine Invitational on Saturday.

• Phil Forbis (Bellarmine baseball, Sr.) — notes: no-decision outing in a starting role in the Knights’ 5-3 home loss to Lewis on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader, four innings pitched, three runs allowed (all earned), six hits, four strikeouts, four walks; team records: 16-11 overall, 11-5 GLVC; Forbis’ record: 2-2.

• Sean Godfrey (Ball State baseball, Jr.) — weekly stats: 7-for-17, six runs scored, three RBIs, two stolen bases; top performance: 4-for-6 with three RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base in the Cardinals’ 12-11 loss in 11 innings at Western Michigan last Friday; team records: 14-14 overall, 4-5 MAC.

• Mathew Holcomb (Hanover men’s track, Jr.) — notes: 42nd in the 800 at the Bellarmine Invitational on Saturday, 2:05.38.

• Alissa Knable (Southern Indiana women’s track, So.) — notes: ninth in the javelin at the Bill Smith Open on Saturday in Vincennes, 49-3.

• Carissa Martin (Bellarmine women’s track, Sr.) — notes: Austin Peay State University Invitational, Saturday, March 30 — sixth in the 1,600 relay (4:09.13) and 10th in both the 800 (2:28.95) and 1,500 (4:56.52); Bellarmine Invitational, Saturday — ninth in the 1,500 (4:53.7) and 1,600 relay (4:10.47) and 17th in the 800 (2:24.93).

• Pryce Ragains (IUPUI men’s track, Jr.) — notes: 25th in the 5,000 at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational on Saturday, 15:31.57.

• Alex Stewart (Western Kentucky men’s tennis, Fr.) — weekly stats: 0-2 singles record, 0-2 doubles record; notes: No. 6 singles loss (6-2, 6-4) and No. 3 doubles loss (8-4) in the Hilltoppers’ 7-0 home loss against West Alabama on Saturday; team record: 5-11.

• Brandy Stover (William & Mary gymnastics, So.) — notes: 34th in the balance beam at the NCAA regional on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla., 9.575.
