WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Grenadiers bury Bearcats, 97-63

NEW ALBANY — The IU Southeast women’s basketball team dominated Brescia in the second half and rolled to a 97-63 win on Thursday.

Megan Cureton had a huge game, scoring a career-high 25 points and grabbing six rebounds.

Heather Wheat added 20 points in the win.

The difference in the game was in the paint where the Grenadiers (11-10, 6-5 KIAC) outscored the Bearcats 48-10.

They also outscored Brescia in bench points 38-4. Every Grenadier player who entered the game scored.

Julie Whitfield led the Bearcats with 20 points in the loss.

The Grenadiers put the game away at the free throw line, extending the lead to as many as 35 in the second half. Though they shot just 61 percent from the stripe, they had 46 attempts at the line in the second half alone, connecting on 31 of them.

IU Southeast heads to Pittsburgh on Saturday to take Point Park at 1 p.m.
