EDITORIAL: Survey to help us help you, our readers

— What newspapers do you read? What websites do you visit? Where do you shop? How do you use our newspaper and our website?

Answers to these and other lifestyle and shopping questions not only help us provide you the information you need and want, but, for a limited time, could also land you a terrific prize.

The News and Tribune has partnered with Pulse Research, an independent research company, in conducting a study on our behalf. We want to know what you like about your Clark and Floyd county newspaper. We want to know what you don’t like. This survey is constructed to give us information we need to help your reading and buying decisions better — both in print and online. If you give us about 20 minutes to complete the online survey, we believe we will be better able to give our readers and advertising partners better products. And your name will be entered into one of three drawings for some pretty terrific prizes.

We are living in uncertain economic times and it is our hope that this research will provide insight into the economic climate of the communities we serve and enable us to strengthen the community bonds we share. The News and Tribune has an obligation to its readers and website users to be proactive within the communities we serve, this is not an obligation we take lightly.

With a better understanding of your spending and purchasing plans we will be able to show local businesses that our readers are in the market for the products and services they offer and regardless of the economy, there is a demand. This poses an opportunity for local businesses as well as our readers and visitors. In showing local businesses that they need to advertise so our readers can bring shopping dollars their way, our local economy will be strengthened.

We are in the unique position of being able to positively affect our readers, local businesses and ourselves, but we cannot do it without you. This survey takes a little time to complete, but rest assured, it is time well spent. Your information will be kept confidential and used for this survey's purposes only. You will not receive any solicitations as a result of completing this survey. Thank you in advance for your participation in helping make our local economy even stronger.

To access the online survey, simply go to: By filling out the survey, you could be the lucky winner of an iPod or one of two $100 gift cards.
