Big night for GOP in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY — It was a landmark night for the Republican Party, as GOP candidates took three Clark County Council seats, as well wrestled control of the Auditor's and Treasurer's offices.

Steve Doherty, Brian Lenfert and Danny Yost were easily elected to council seats. Monty Snelling was selected as auditor and David Reinhardt will be the next treasurer.

Also, David Blankenbeker, a Democrat, easily bested Bob Isgrigg,a Libertarian, for surveyor. Danny Rodden won by a wide margin and will return as sheriff. The Democrat incumbent beat John Staks, an independent.

With 72 of 73 county precincts reporting, Recorder Dick Jones led challenger Terry Conway by more than 500 votes to retain his seat.
