Endris, Berger hold onto Floyd County Recorder, Treasurer seats

Gibson, unopposed, wins surveyor

NEW ALBANY — Floyd County Recorder Lois Endris retained her seat Tuesday, as she garnered 20,860 votes, or 62.6 percent, to best Democratic challenger Maury Goldberg, who received 12,750 votes, or 37.94 percent.

“I never take anything for granted,” said Endris, a Republican, after learning of her victory. “I am very grateful and very delighted.”

Endris, 51, was first elected as recorder in 2008 and began her term in 2009. She served as First Deputy Floyd County Recorder from 2000 to 2005.

Goldberg, 64, is a former New Albany City Councilman who was seeking his first term as recorder.

Endris credited her track record for her secure another four years as recorder.

“I think my accomplishments [in the past four years] helped and I have a large family which has given me a lot of support,” she said.

Berger back as treasurer

Republican incumbent Linda Berger received 19.068 votes, or 57.23 percent, to defeat Democratic challenger Carolyn Evans, who received 14,248 votes, or 42.77 percent in the Floyd County Treasurer’s race.

Berger, 72, was first elected to the seat in 2008 after serving as Floyd County Recorder for eight years.

She said election night is “always a nervous evening” because anything can happen.

“I am grateful to the voters of Floyd County for another four years,” Berger said Tuesday night. “I’ve tried very hard to serve them in the past, and I expect to continue to do that.”

Evans, 67, was seeking her first elected position.

Among her goals for the next four years, Berger said she aims to continue to develop an e-billing system so that people can pay their taxes online if they are interested in doing so.

Gibson, unopposed, remains surveyor

Republican William B. Gibson will remain Floyd County Surveyor, as he won an unopposed victory Tuesday. Gibson, 69, has been surveyor since 2005. He received 23,325 votes.
