Other Derby Festival events taking place aside from Thunder this weekend

LOUISVILLE — Text Box:  There are several Kentucky Derby Festival activities this weekend in addition to Festival’s Opening Ceremonies: Thunder Over Louisville.They include:


Saturday, April 20

FOURTH STREET LIVE! THUNDER party in the plaza.  10 pm – Close. Fourth Street Live! In downtown Louisville.   After the fireworks show, visit Fourth Street Live! for Thunder Party in the Plaza featuring DJ Mikus.


Saturday, April 20-Sunday, April 28

KENTUCKY DERBY FESTIVAL VOLLEYBALL CLASSIC. Contributing Sponsors:  ASICS, Hyatt Regency Louisville, Mikasa and 98.9 Radio Now. Entry Deadline:  March 30. For more information call The Volleyball Connection/Tandem Sports (502) 582-3530.

Sand Divisions at Baxter Jacks

April 20 and 21: 9 AM - 9 PM and April 27 and 28: 9 AM - 9 PM

Grass Divisions at Seneca Park at the Tennis Courts

April 27 and 28: 9 AM - 6 PM


Sunday, April 21


April 18-April 27: 10 AM – 8:30 PM, April 20:  Closed for Thunder, April 28: 10 AM – 5 PM, Semi-finals 6 PM.  Seneca Golf Course Driving Range. $1 per shot and free for spectators.  April 25:  Ladies get 2 shots for $1.  April 27:  Kids Day – under 18 get 2 shots for $1. Grand Prize:  $1 million.  First Prize (if no Hole-in-One):  $5,000.  Sponsor:  Stock Yards Bank & Trust Company.  Contributing Sponsors: Golf Galaxy, Kentuckiana Golf Course Superintendents, WLKY 32 and 84WHAS.
