Clarksville parks launching fitness challenge

CLARKSVILLE — A little goes a long way when it comes to weight loss. Research has shown that losing 10 percent of your body weight — or less — can have big payoffs for health. Clarksville Parks and Recreation is doing its part for our residents by offering the first Clarksville Fitness Challenge, sponsored by the Louisville Athletic Club.

During this free program, residents will meet every weeks for special exercise classes, cooking demonstrations, healthy eating tips, and more. The six week program begins on Tuesday, June 3, with a run/walk through Clarksville’s Ashland Park. This also will be the first time participants will weigh-in as part of the weight loss contest. Everyone’s weight will be kept confidential. The person who records the highest percentage of weight loss after the six week program will win a free one-year membership to the Clarksville LAC.

The Clarksville Fitness Challenge is open to everyone, not just Clarksville residents. To learn more about the program, visit the Clarksville Fitness Challenge page on our website: clarksvilleparks.com/fitness-challenge.html.
