JHS grad flying B-52 bomber in air show

JEFFERSONVILLE — Those enjoying the Thunder Over Louisville airshow Saturday should keep their eyes peeled for the B-52 Bomber, scheduled for a flyover about 4 p.m.

Maj. Scott Schroeder, 34, a 1997 graduate of Jeffersonville High School, will be piloting the historic craft.

“I am so excited for him,” said Jeanne Schroeder, his stepmom. “He’s been wanting to do this for years.”

Scott grew up in New Salisbury but attended Jeffersonville High School because his mother, Levy Schroeder, lived in town. Scott was inspired to become a pilot after watching the movie “Top Gun.” And Jeanne said the family regularly attended Thunder Over Louisville when he was young.

Schroeder, who’s based out of Barksdale Air Force Base near Shreveport, La., was called for an interview but could not be reached before deadline.
