Public invited to help plan future library services

Two public events scheduled in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY — Members of the public are invited to attend “community conversations” in September and October to help the Jeffersonville Township Public Library plan for evolving library patron needs and to prioritize limited resources.

The library has teamed up with Indiana University Southeast’s Applied Research and Education Center to assess the needs and interests of township community members.

“The public library is already an integral part of the quality of life in Clark County. It serves the information and cultural needs of all residents including, recreational reading, research, computer access, story times for children, programs and more,” said Library Director Libby Pollard in a press release. “Times are changing and our communities have changed, too. We rely on your input to understand the priorities of our communities.”

The community conversations mark the beginning of the library’s development of the strategic plan for the 2014-16 years. Input from the community conversations will help identify focus areas for the plan.

“Knowing that technology has changed the ways people access information, it’s important that we be intentional and strategic in how we move forward and determine the services that are most relevant to the community,” Pollard said.

The first community conversation will take place from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Jeffersonville location, 211 E. Court Ave. The second meeting will be Oct. 7, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at the Clarksville Branch, 1312 Eastern Blvd.

Melissa Fry from the IU Southeast Applied Research and Education Center will facilitate both meetings.
