Jeffersonville man admits to shooting another man in New Albany

Sentencing hearing set for next month

A 20-year-old Jeffersonville man confessed in court Thursday to shooting another man in New Albany.

Jeremy Ogan pleaded guilty to aggravated battery, a class B felony, and Circuit Court Judge J. Terrence Cody found him guilty. As part of the plea agreement, Ogan would be sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years probation.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13 to formalize the agreement. Cody said he has no reservations about accepting the plea deal.

Ogan shot Jeremy D. Schneider, 26, in the stomach at 1743 Culbertson Ave. on Sept. 20, 2007. The victim survived the shooting.

Ogan had been set to begin trial next week on an attempted murder charge.

Kristy L. Johnson, 21, of Jeffersonville pleaded guilty Monday to class B felony aiding an aggravated battery in the case. She is scheduled for sentencing July 30.

Johnson filed a blind plea Monday and could be sentenced to six to 20 years at the judge’s discretion.

Patrick Fuller, of Louisville, pleaded guilty June 12 to class B felony aggravated battery against Schneider and class C felony battery resulting in bodily injury for a jail fight. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison and five years probation.
