The OPEN Art Gallery in Louisville will feature visual artist Louisa Kleinert and musical artist Jon Silpayamanant at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 15.

Silpayamanant, a New Albany-based cellist, composer and multi-instrumentalist, will bring several of his musical projects to the gallery Saturday. Once introduced to Yo-Yo Ma as the world’s “premiere Klingon cellist,” Silpayamanant will be performing with his Indianapolis-based World Music Ensemble, il Troubadore and Steam Noir music/dance duo Secondhand, according to a press release.

Several of his local musical projects will also fill out the bill including Camera Lucida, a New Albany-based interactive video/dance/music group; Mercy Academy, a local Louisville based rock band; and Noiseman433, the name of a solo experimental music project that he’s been performing under since the late 1990s. Silpayamanant will also perform collaboratively with Louisville based experimental musician R. Keenan Lawler.

Silpayamanant is the featured musical artist at the gallery show of local artist Louisa Kleinert.  Kleinert is the youngest daughter of Louisville’s world-renowned hand surgeon Dr. Harold Kleinert, and this will be her final art show in the city as she returns to the town that her father began his medical training in to pursue an MFA in art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, according to the release.

The event will take place at the new OPEN gallery, 2801 S. Floyd St., Suite 100, in Louisville, which is dedicated to showing art of all mediums, in an environment passionate about art with a voice.
