The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a special weather statement for Clark and Floyd Counties.
National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm seven miles west of New Albany, which was moving northeast at 30 mph. The thunderstorm, with dangerous lightning, torrential rain and nickel-size hail, is expected to push through the area late this afternoon to early evening.
According to the advisory, those in the path of the storm should expect ponding of water on local roadways. Drivers should slow down and turn on their headlights if they encounter heavy rains. If you are in the path of this storm the National Weather Services advises you should seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows.
