SOUTHERN INDIANA

Youth Count meeting is Friday

The public is invited to attend the upcoming Youth Count Community meeting from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, April 26, in the lower level conference room at the Cancer Center, 2210 Green Valley Road in New Albany. 

The meeting is open and free to anyone who has an interest in, and concern about providing our young people the best possible opportunities to succeed — at home, at school, and in life.

Melissa Merida, Purdue Extension 4-H Youth Development Educator, will present Ages & Stages: Working Together to Learn. This hands-on experience will lead participants through awareness of the various learning stages and how to plan activities and lessons that allow mixed age groups to learn together.

Support group welcomes guest

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance will host an evening with Sam Schad, a Social Security representative from Schad and Schad trial attorneys, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Monday, April 29, in the conference center of Clark Memorial Hospital, 1220 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville.

Schad will be giving a Powerpoint presentation providing information on eligibility for Social Security disability as well as making a smooth transition from work to disability. 

This is a free event for people who suffer from mood disorders and need to be on disability. Family and friends of those individuals are also welcome.

Spots open for leadership program

Rep. Todd Young, R.-Ind., announced that the 9th District congressional offices are accepting applications for the 9th District’s Congressional Leadership Program.
