More Daisy Lane property purchased

Industrial park gets easement

NEW ALBANY — More property on Daisy Lane was approved for purchase to square off the city’s proposed aquatic center at the New Albany Board of Public Works meeting Tuesday.

David Duggins, director of economic development and redevelopment for New Albany, said the purchase at 210 Daisy Lane and another purchase last week gives the city about 600 feet of frontage. He said with a total of six properties they plan to buy adjacent to the former Camille Wright pool site, the city should end up with almost 10 acres of property.

The board voted to approve the purchase agreement for $130,000 unanimously.

The board also approved a utility easement for the 40-acre industrial park.

John Rosenbarger, public works projects supervisor for New Albany, said he hopes to keep all the utilities underground on the easement.

“Right now, we need it sooner than later so the utilities can get to work and also to electrify the new cross section that’s been put in there,” Rosenbarger said.

The easement was approved unanimously.

A left turn signal on Grant Line Road coming out of Christian Academy of Indiana was taken off the board’s old business.

Rosenbarger said a traffic study showed increased stop time on Grant Line Road would cause more issues than leaving the intersection as it is.

Warren Nash, board president, said the matter might be brought back for discussion in another six months.
