WEATHER FORECAST: Cooler temps, more rain on the way

LOUISVILLE — After a stormy week, heavy rain has led to some river flooding in the area. Use caution if you encounter area roads until the river/creeks have a chance to recede. The East Fork of the White River is expected to crest about 5 feet above flood stage.

The weekend will feature some sunshine as we head into Saturday. However, it will be much cooler with highs struggling through the 50s despite that sunshine. Lows Saturday night look chilly into the upper 30s with a nice rebound back into the 60-degree range as we trek into Sunday. Clouds will likely begin to move into the region on Sunday, so expect Saturday to be the pick of the weekend when it comes to blue skies overhead.

Our break from the rain looks brief as yet another storm system moves our way. This time around we are expecting less of a threat of thunderstorms and more of a threat for river flooding returning as we could easily pick up one to two inches of rainfall. The highest rain chances look to take place late Sunday night through about Tuesday. It does look chilly next week but we should see a nice warm-up just in time for Thunder Over Louisville. Current indications are that highs should push into the 70s for Thunder with a decent amount of sunshine. There is a cold front moving our away with rain that weekend. Right now, that front looks to impact the area on Sunday. It will be a close call so stay tuned.
